My friend does this thing called couch surfing which is a big community of people worldwide who offer up their spare room or couch for travellers and show them around. They then can couch surf on someone’s couch when they travel. You have to be recommended and people leave reviews and he has met people from all over the world and stayed there for free. They also have regular meetings for travellers and members. You should look up their website. I just know it’s called couch surfing but I’m sure you’ll find it.
