Probably Oregon or Washington.
What do you think? Answer below!

Seattle (if you don’t have a passport) but much better Vancouver as you see more of Alaska starting further North.
Or start at Anchorage and come South.
Can’t recommend Seattle trips as most tend to “waste time” returning to Seattle and miss the best parts of Alaska which are further North. Don’t fly both ways via Seattle as you miss these parts!
Make your cruise one direction to see everything and fly the other way!
California would be your closest. The Sea Princess cruises out of San Francisco round trip. I totally enjoyed that trip, but if you think this will be your one and only cruise to Alaska, then I would fly to either Alaska or at least Seattle and take a cruise that goes to Glacier Bay. That is a must see and a highlight of Alaskan cruising. The Sea Princess does not go to Glacier Bay.
My grandmother took a cruise to Alaska, we lived in NJ, and she took off from San Francisco, which made the cruise longer, and more enjoyable she said, she has been out of ports from Vancouver and Washington, but she liked leaving from California a lot more.
