Question by : Is it worth it to get a travel agent?
My fiancee and I are planning our honeymoon, we found the cruise we want. Now the thing we are trying to consider is, is it worth it to hire a travel agent to help us book the cruise, the flight, the hotel, and transportation from airport to hotel to cruise?
thanks for the help. We are going on Royal Caribbean’s 12 day Mediterranean cruise. It’s perfect, the cruise leaves 4 days after the wedding on the anniversary of the day we met.

Depends. Are you willing to do all the research necessary to plan and book a trip yourself? Do you know the ins/outs of booking the cruise, getting insurance, whether to use cruise line flights [the answer is "no"], which hotel is near the cruise port [great idea using a hotel to get there at least the night before!], whether to use cruise line transfers [again, "no"]. It doesn’t cost you anything – or very much anyway – to use an agent. And if you belong to, say AAA, it’s part of what you pay for in your membership fee.

If you’ve never cruised before and don’t know anything about it, you’d have to do research beforehand anyway, as there are many, many options that would need to decide upon. There are books at the library or bookstore about cruising and also helpful websites.

One very helpful website is CruiseCritic.com. If you click on “Cruise Styles”, you’ll find a discussion about “Romantic” cruises”. If you click on “Boards”, you’ll find discussion boards on every topic related to cruising, e.g. ports, saving money, “Member Reviews” [extremely helpful], etc., etc.

It would be interesting to know which cruise you are considering. There are big differences from line to line and even ship to ship.

Hope you find just the right cruise! And, congratulations, too!

I think you should, your honeymoon is so important that you want to make sure it’s everything you expect. Sometimes they can get you upgraded and other perks.
Plus, you don’t even pay anything for a travel agent, they get commission from the cruise line & airline.

Edit- I just went to the Meditteranean this summer, it’s so stunning, you will definitely love it!
