Is it better to use a travel agent?

Question by heath1500: Is it better to use a travel agent?
I plan on buying a cruise for two for me and my girl. I can drive us to LA so I don’t need airline tickets. Would it be cheaper to buy through a travel agent or straight through the cruise line?

Well my mom is a travel agent so I should say travel agent but if you dont need airfare then the cruise website should be a fine deal. As long as you have been on a cruise before and know what to expect. If you haven’t, maybe you should call a travel agent just so they can give you some advice on what to expect, such as necessary documents, tipping the waitstaff, shore excursions…

What do you think? Answer below!

Using a travel agent has nothing to do with the cost except for the times that they have block space and can get you a better deal. You do not pay extra for using a legitimate agent. You should use an agent for the cruise so you have someone to answer all questions, help you find the best value on a cruise, and help if a problem comes up.

I have used a travel agent and booked directly with the cruise line.
When booking with the travel agent, we could sort out any problems or enquiries quite quickly with either a phone call or a visit.
Booking with the cruise line, although just as simple and as easy, was more of a problem as the cruise line would not communicate directly with us but would only do it through their approved agent.
I would use a travel agent in the future because of that.
I don’t think that it makes any difference which you use although you sometimes get on board credit with a TA.

noooo. Travel agents are awesome. You should go to http://www.bookme.com. It’s the only site you need to go to. you can compare prices on all the travel sites in just a few minutes. good luck.
