I would like to spend about a week in the bahamas in July 2011. I know nothing about the islands. Would it be better to go with a travel agent or book it myself? If you recommend a travel agent does anyone know one that is reliable?

book online, just google the bahama islands, get info on each and what appeals to you the most, then look at the resorts/cabins/houses for rent available at that island and book. Internet and upgraded sites and tech have made all those things easier for when before it was a pain on the a$$. Have a great trip!

Research stuff online. Once you’ve figured out what you want, speak with a travel agent. They may be able to get you better deals.
If you’re in the northeast/mid-Atlantic region, I recommend Liberty Travel. I’ve used them for a few trips and I’ve always been pleased with the service.
