I used to travel from MI to RI often, and to be honest I always preferred traveling alone… the only schedule you have to worry about is your own. Most people get cranky when traveling together for a long period of time. You have to decide whether or not you feel safe enough to travel alone… that’s the only way you can really answer it.

Traveling alone from Michigan to Chile would be very stressful on such a long drive. It could take you about a week or more to get there. I am originally from Colombia, South America, and the flight alone from Texas to Colombia took about 6 1/2 hours. Long road trips like that are more advantageous when accompanied by someone who you can have fun with and take turns sharing the wheel. In either case have fun and enjoy the ride!
