I agree with first responder: spring, particularly late spring when the days are long. A cruise would do nicely; one can go north from Vancouver Island on a very nice trip. Bring bug repellent.

august is the best time… its summer and there is sun and salmon run and great halibut fishing in Homer and great wildlife sighting… i love alaska its the best state to be in during the summer in my opinion ive never been on a cruise and wont go

It gets nice in July. Cruises could be fun if you get one that moves in the day, so you have interesting views to watch. Alaska is wonderful, you might never want to come home.

Cruises up here are awesome! (I live up here by the way) I personally recommend summer for cruises. If you want to do the winter activities, winter is the way to go. (obviously)

Summer cruises-Whittier to Vancouver or Seward to Vancouver are really good. (try to take the train there) Princess tours are what I’m used to using.

Summer activities-Hiking, glacier hikes, camping, hunting, kayaking, white river rafting, fishing, sight seeing. to name a few

Winter activities- Snowboarding/Skiing, sledding, ice skating. The Alyeska Resort is really nice. I love staying there.

Alaska is a no miss opportunity. Summer is the most popular for obvious reasons. That would be late May through September.

I am a travel professional and live in Eagle River Alaska (just north of Anchorage), and the options are numerous, and as bountiful as Alaska`s incredible scenery.

I like the fall for its colors, and increased wildlife opportunities; but mid-season is quite wonderful as well. The question to ask is really what are your goals in terms of what you want to see; long daylight hours, temperature (is warm temps the goal), fall colors, and the aurora borealis (northern lights).

There are lots of itineraries, and even more packages. I encourage a more all encompassing itinerary so you get the best value for your dollar, and by all means include a cruise.

I am including a few web sites, including the company I work for, so you`ll have some ideas to work with. Also, a few pictures to get you excited.

Feel free to contact me for any Alaska information you may require, it is what I do.

    Camai!
