How many days required for Disney and Sea Worlds?
Question by Pearl J: How many days required for Disney and Sea Worlds?
We (4yr old son, husband & myself) are planning on a trip to Florida. Our only destinations are Disney World and Sea World. How many days are required for each and how long does it take to travel from disney to Sea world?
Best answer:
Answer by Indiana Jones
this is my recommendation.
-seaworld: 1 day
disney world…
-magic kingdom: 2 days
-epcot: 1 to 1-1/2 days
-hollywood studios: 1 day
-animal kingdom: 3/4 of a day
-one of the two water parks if you can/want to (blizzard beach OR typhooon lagoon. for a 4yr old i’d recommend typhoon lagoon. although its closed through march 17th for refurbishment)
-AT LEAST one relax day where you sleep in, swim at the hotel, and spend the afternoon/evening at downtown disney. (its better if you have 2 relax days)
it takes about 20 minutes to get from disney world to seaworld.
What do you think? Answer below!

I would do at least 4 days for Disney World and 1 for Sea World. Sea World doesn’t require that long of a stay. Disney has the four parks, Epcot, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios, so you want at least 1 day for each. Disney and Sea World are 20-25 min. apart I think. Have fun!
You have already received two correct & great answers. I would just like to add that 4 years old is the perfect time to start going to WDW. That is when we first took our daughter. It was tons of fun! The Magic Kingdom will take the most time, because there are so many things to do there & with a young child it will take longer. Be sure to take your own stroller. It was a life saver for us. When we had dinner reservations, we would feed our daughter & put her in the stroller. She could sleep, while we had a relaxed dinner. There is a lot of walking. Having a cranky child is no fun. Take breaks. The sights & sounds can get overwhelming. Keep your son hydrated & keep snacks on hand. Sea World is lots of fun for kids. They have the Sesame Street characters & shows. Be sure to go see the Pets Ahoy show. It’s really cute. Don’t forget sunscreen & a light rain jacket. Have Fun!
Me and my husband are doing the same thing this year. We’re staying at Disney, but one day we will be going to Sea World. We did this on our trip in 2010 also.
Go to Sea World for one day. This park has a lot to do, but it can all be done by using a certain strategy.
Go to Shamu’s Happy Harbor FIRST. Your son will be able to ride all the kiddie rides with almost no lines while everyone else is watching the first Shamu show of the day. By avoiding the first Shamu show of the day, you will be avoiding the “main” traffic pattern of the park throughout the day. This has worked out great for my family in the past—my kids rode all the kiddie rides early in the day, with no lines, and later in the day, Shamu’s Happy Harbor was packed with long lines. Glad we avoided it!
Catch any rides that you and your husband want to do early in the day also, while everyone else is still watching shows.
After you’ve done the rides, feed the dolphins. If you wait too late into the day to do this, you may not get a chance, because after the dolphins have eaten a certain amount, they don’t sell fish anymore.
After you’ve done the rides and fed the dolphins, go see the shows. Plan on what shows you will see at the beginning of your day, to make sure that you don’t miss them. After you’ve seen the shows that you want to watch, check out the non-feeding exhibits like the penguins, manatees, sharks, etc.
When it comes to Disney World, you can spend one day at Animal Kingdom. Rides first, then exhibits, shows and parade. But be sure to stay the entire day and really take in what this park has to offer—many of the beautiful sights are not even explored by people who are only interested in doing the rides and getting out. This park is AMAZING—stroll around and take in the beauty.
Disney Hollywood Studios can be done in one day, but it will be like Sea World where it takes careful planning to do most of the activities here. Plan on doing Toy Story Midway Mania FIRST. I’m serious—do this FIRST. When we went, they were actually OUT of fast passes by noon! We missed out. So either get there first thing in the morning when there is a short wait, or grab a fast pass. Rockin Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror should be done early also. The rest of your planning for this park will revolve around what shows you want to see, and what times will work out for you. I suggest doing the rides first, then picking later show times and sticking to them. Do NOT miss Fantasmic. Either get the Fantasmic dining package, or grab fast food and get in line for that show an hour before it starts. If there is more than one Fantasmic showing that night, a good time to catch attractions with short waits would be during the Fantasmic show that you are not watching.
Epcot can easily take two days if you want to browse around every country in the World Showcase. But you can spend one if you are mainly interested in rides. My kids loved the Seas with Nemo and Friends pavilion, so don’t miss that. Do that one early in the day. Get fast passes to Soarin’ first thing, because that ride will probably have the longest wait in Epcot. Do the rides first, then browse around the park. One thing that you can do to kind of “kill two birds with one stone” is to watch Illuminations while eating out. Make reservations for one of the restaurants like Rose & Crown pub or Tokyo Dining where you can get a good view of Illuminations while you eat.
Magic Kingdom will require two days, no questions asked. There are just too many things at that park not to be missed, especially when you have a small child.
Have fun!
I’ve lived in Florida and been to those parks countless, countless times throughout my lifetime, and honestly if you don’t give each park at least 2 FULL days its not worth it. SeaWorld is smaller than Disney and if you do a full day there you might be able to see most of it. I’ve already seen so many things that when I go I can get away with one day because I usually just catch up on whats new. But, I think my short answer would be 2 days.
