Hostels will be your best friend, lol. Some are really nice, and you’ll just be sleeping there for a few hours anyway. There are many websites that list great hostels all over europe, hostels.com/europe and hostelseurope.com are a couple to get you started. If you can book far enough in advance, you could pay around 15 bucks or so per night. And hostels arent just for young kids so no worries
Also, purchase rail passes!!!! huge savings there. try sta.com for those. Have fun!!
I’ve never been to a hostel but I go to Switzerland every year and I’ve got some travel guides. I live in Paris.
The Swiss Franc is stronger than ever and visiting Switzerland is really not cheap at the moment.
Luzern is my favourite Swiss city, I don’t like Interlaken, not in winter. The cheapest I know it’s the Ibis hotel in Kriens, little city in the outskirts of Luzern with good transport system.

Otherwise, there’s a camping with dormitories in Luzern.

Something I adore is taking the Golden Panoramic trains that go from Montreux to Gstaad, you don’t stop seeing amazing landscapes.
Two hostels In Interlaken are mentioned at one of my travel books :
Balmer’s Herberge http://www.balmers.ch
Happy Inn Lodge http://www.happyinn.com
There are lots of hostels in Paris, the tourist office give a complete list :

Otherwise, I know 2 inexpensive hotels
Hotel de la Porte Doree http://www.hoteldelaportedoree.com/
Hotel du Cygne http://www.cygne-hotel-paris.com/index.htm
On a little budget, if you don’t mind spending time in the public transports, you can look for hotels in the outskirts of Paris. Charenton Le Pont city is very close to Paris, you arrive there by tube or bus and hotels are much cheaper … But if you stay away of Paris city centre, I think you’ll spend all day out and only go to the hotel at night … It’s ok for young people.
With that many people – it depends how many people the hotel will allow per room. Maybe in some cases renting a room together would be cheaper. My hunch though, is that you will still be best off in a hostel if your primary goal is to save money. They often provide ways to do laundry at cheap rates, they have kitchens you can often cook in and they run tours out of them that are usually reasonable. Sure you all sleep in a common room or rooms with everyone else – but hey – the price is right.
And by all means – get eurorail passes. Google it. That will be the best way. Maybe one guy and one girl would make a good hitchhiking team – but 10 at once? No. But then again with that many people maybe you could all rent a van and save on the passes? Just make sure you invest in a gps as the road in europe are not easy to navigate around.
