I need to know, if a hot air balloon were to sustain itself at a constant altitude, how far could it travel over night? I know this is something complex, but even a guestimate would be good.

Assume that it enters the jetstream. Google jetstream to find out maximum recorded sustained wind speed. Decide how many hours is “overnight”. D = vt.
