join WAYN.com,(free) it’s a traveling web site, there are tons of filipinos there that would assist you, theres geographical infrormation and lots of interesting stuff on members profile. Do a search on filipinos and just speak to a few. Note that there is a time difference depending on where you are, for example if you’re in New York there is a 12 hour difference, my 11 am is there 11 pm (12 hrs ahead)… I’ve been there and its a cool place, lots to do and see…Good luck

which specific island is he going to? each island has some specialty but most can be bought at the malls (if he goes to big cities like manila or cebu). there are lots of cool shirts and exotic foods. but dunno if he can really bring that much local food. most stuff here are cheap.
tell your dad to wear something light coz it’s very humid or hot. and beware of taxi drivers, they charged foreigners higher. stupid ass taxi drivers.

Tell him to go to Quinta Market in Quiapo, Manila, but he should ask a local to accompany him. The nicest and cheapers handicrafts are found there. You can get all sorts, made from coconut shells, capiz (mother of pearl), wood, raffia, abaca, etc.. You might also want him to bring home jewelry, such as pearls and costume jewelry, which are cheapest in Virra Mall in San Juan.
