Australia and england cricket boards really look after there players, and makesure they give sufficient amount of rest to cricket players between season or tours. However that is tottaly the opposite for indian cricket, Despite india being by far the richest cricketing and infact sporting board in the world.
For example, this is the amount of cricket india has played this year.
4 test matches vs Australia, 1st Janaury- Feburary. 5 weeks
10 ODIs vs Sri Lanka and Aussies, Feburaury – March. 4 weeks
3 Test matches vs South Africa, March – April. 3 weeks
Shi* slog bore of IPL, April – June. 7 bloody weeks
Kitply Cup, June. 2 weeks
Asia Cup, June – July. 4 weeks
3 Test matches vs Sri Lanka, July – August. 4 weeks
5 ODIs vs Sri Lanka, August 2 weeks
ICC Champions trophy, Semptember 3 weeks
4 Test matches vs Australia, October – Novemember 4 weeks
7 ODIs vs England, Novemember – Decemember 3 weeks
2 Test matches vs England, Decemember 2 weeks
India are playing a series for a whopping 42 weeks, with only about 8 – 10 weeks rest between series. Not to mention practise games, Touring other countries, advertisements, Traveling constantly ect…
No wonder why india are bad starters in a series even at home, because they hardly get any rest between series and preparation before hand. At least the indian players knew, they could have about 6-8 weeks holiday or rest from cricket in succession, but that is totally shattered by the Slog bore of IPL.
Is the BCCI Ruining indian cricket, with there selfish money plotting motives?
I Know india has a lot of superstars in cricket, mostly in there test side, but you cant kill them with overdrive of cricket.
I mean, was the Kitply cup really neccessary, or even this Sri Lanka Series, even though it has been thrilling to watch so far.
BCCI is killing indian cricket. Its going to be fascinating to see the state of indian cricket once the greates leave. India in my opinion are fuc*ed in test without them. Icant see anyone replacing Sachin or Dravid.
I tottaly agree with you melanie and others, that this schedule is just way too taxing, moreover the tours are unsettled, in terms of how it is arranged. India never have a settled plan of when playing at home or away, like england, Australia, New Zealand, West Indies, ect…

I know that’s too much cricket & players DO need rest & we’re seeing alot of frequent injuries. Well all what can change (realistically) is that we implement a rotation policy & make a pool of players. This “senior vs junior” stuff is not gonna work. Guidence, training & rehabiliation is vital.

Yes, it is a lot of cricket. The Australian trip was much too long to start with.
To play in this heat is bad. It had never been this way before. Weather was always taken into account for cricket. Used to be a winter game out in the Sun.
The Sri Lanka matches were BCCI’s Charity work to support the SL cricket board. In rainy season too!
May not be all for money. But players do need rest. Others cannot do what Dhoni did.

That is way too much cricket! No wonder the players have slowed down dramatically recently. I feel sorry for them & think the BCCI should look at them as humans, not money making machines. Not only is the actual game of cricket a very demanding one, but the travel adds to it making it very tiring even for the youngest of players.
every organization is money oriented, BCCI is no exception however i remember a story of the golden egg, when a hen used to deliver an egg of gold everyday, one fine day the owner thought that let me have all the eggs in one day and he killed the hen , i think BCCI is doing the same, unless they have proper management of scheduling and planning , the things can go haywire for indian cricket !
rotation policy is also very important, to rest the key players, one by one can help rejuvenation , in case they don’t want to compromise on the schedule of Indian team, they should have a proper plan of resting the key players in rotation but for this they need to have strong bench strength, which i think the Indian team has right now!
That’s a lot of cricket. India can’t be a number 1 side even if they had the potential to be. Any team would get worn out with this type of schedule. Dhoni had every right to pull out of the recent test matches against Sri Lanka.
This schedule can explain the poor form in some of the Indian batsmen as well.
Money equals power, the BCCI want the power, they have quite a bit of power right now. Pretty soon they’ll be the ICCB and they’ll be ruling cricket unless the Indian public and players speak out.
