We like the “Suncourt Hotel” in Karl Bhag District. Like ANY Delhi hotel, they’ll try to squeeze a few extra rupees out of you (watch your internet time carefully, keep record of how much and when you pay for your room service food or restaurant -e.g. you didn’t pay last night–pay now—but you did pay last night…), but in general, the management is good and its a good location. They can arrange trips to Agra for you. It’s not too far from the subway.
Or, when arriving at the airport, the tourist bureau can arrange you any hotel, depending on your price range and proximity to airport or other attractions you’d like. There are so many to chose from.
Of course a day out to Agra to see the Taj Mahal is a MUST!
Around Delhi, Qutb Minar, Lotus Temple, Red Fort and Parhaganj Market for shopping are the highlights in my opinion.

India is one of those countries which provides you a great, deep insight into the medieval and ancient past. And Delhi, serving as its capital for the past thousands of years has of course many glorious marvels for its dear visitors.
Now if you wish to know about Delhi, then read on…
There are many places worth visiting in Delhi. Before you arrive here, you must know that Delhi is divided into three regions- New Delhi- the modern the capital of India, Old Delhi- the Walled City or the medieval capital region and the Outer Delhi- the territorial expansions of Delhi post-independence from the British colonization. Now you have to choose what do you actually wish to see. If you wanna have a look at the modern city, then you have to go to New Delhi, which hosts the administration of India. Places worth visiting in this region are India Gate, Parliament House(Sansad Bhawan), President House(Rashtrapati Bhawan), Supreme Court of India, many museums like the National Science Museum, Rail Museum, Dolls Museum, National Museum and so on, and many other structures belonging to the British era. Apart from all these, you may visit several historical regions in New Delhi as well, like Hauz Khas, Mehrauli(of the Qutab Minar fame), Tughlaqabad, etc. The historical regions in New Delhi are usually the ones belonging to the Delhi Sultanate era, dating from twelfth to sixteenth century, when the Parsis(Iranians) ruled over India. New Delhi also has places like Connaught Place for shopping, Lotus Temple(much like the Sydney Opera House), Chanakya Puri- a green paradise, etc. All in all it is a well planned area within the territory of Delhi.
Next comes Old Delhi. Here you’ll find the true heart of Delhi. The glorious Mughal history, dating from sixteenth to nineteenth century and the Sikh history that provided Delhi with all the hue and colors that it boasts of today, can be found in this very area of Old Delhi. World famous places like Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Gurudwara Sis Ganj, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Khooni Darwaaza, Dilli(Delhi) Gate and the all important medieval havelis(mansions, most of them now in ruins) of Chandni Chowk all lie in this area. Though severely congested post-independence, it is the region that one cannot rub off his itinerary if he really wants to know the real medieval architecture of India.
Last is the Outer Delhi. This is the area that has been developed or is being developed entirely by the Government of Delhi, post independence. This area has the least historical significance, but has several posh and well-planned localities of Delhi. Places like Rohini, Pitampura, Dwarka, etc are a few to mention, if you wanna do some shopping in big malls.
Apart from Delhi, the satellite towns surrounding it like Gurgaon, Noida, etc(collectively called as the National Capital Region, or N.C.R.) are also worth visiting, especially if one wants to see the real product of India’s booming growth rate!
Yes, and do not forget to have a ride in Delhi Metro, the most recent feather in the cap of the glorious achievements of Delhi!!!!
And you’ll find a good hotel in the Central Delhi region(New Delhi), especially in the Chanakya Puri or India Gate areas.
Enough has been told by me about Delhi… Rest is for you to explore.
Let’s talk about the rest of India. Well, practically the whole India is worth visiting, especially because of its extremely diverse history and traditions. No two states in India will offer you the same food, culture, history, climate and people!!! They’re all different. And yet, we’re a country! That’s what India is all about! Simple, yet complex!!!!
But if you wanna know about some really good places, then do not forget to visit Agra(of the Taj Mahal fame, not very far from Delhi), Bangalore(India’s Silicon Valley), Udaipur(for its rich Rajput history), Mumbai(India’s financial capital, houses historical rock-cut caves like Ajanta, Ellora, Elephanta, etc), Lucknow, temples of South India like the ones at Mahabalipuram(state- Tamil Nadu), Amritsar(of the Golden Temple- a Sikh shrine made of gold fame, also known for the world famous India-Pakistan border checkpost- the Wagah Border)- around 450 kms North-West of Delhi. The last and the most important of all is Kashmir- the heaven on Earth, as it is popularly known as. You have to visit this place, for sure. You cannot afford to miss the Dal Lake(Srinagar), Anantnag, Ladakh, etc.
For the beaches, Goa extends a warm welcome to you.
Lastly is you want to have a look at the extreme of India, then you can visit the North-East comprising 7 small states. This is the region that is totally hilly and covered with dense forests. It is extremely rich in its flora and fauna. Moreover it houses the Kanchenjunga mountain peak- the 3rd highest of the world!
There are innumerable places to visit in India. No matter how much you travel, you won’t be satisfied unless you understand the real zeal and enthusiasm that the people of India carry, and the rich 10000-year old historical treasure that lies hidden beneath the scared soil of this great country called India….
WISHING YOU A PLEASANT STAY IN INDIA!
