It was the time of mid-16th and earlier 17th centuries, when Agra strikes a hysterical building activity and it was during this time that the symbol of love, the Taj Mahal, was built. Constructed in order of a grief suffering Emperor Shah Jehan as a commemorative to his beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal, the Taj Mahal has a structural grace and immaculate beauty that has been rarely matched.
For successful completion of this building, 20 thousand men nearly 22 years were continuously involved. To build the mausoleum, the finest of skilled artisans were brought in to inlay the white marble edifice with precious stones and to conjure filigreed marble screens around the cenotaphs of the emperor and his beloved queen. There is a jewel -like quality about the Taj Mahal.
The Taj Mahal is unearthly at any part of the day – blushing in the rosy glow of down or sunset, appearing like a gleaming mirage in the moonlight or reflected in the pools of the garden. Possibly the most moving view of the Taj is from an octagonal tower in the Agra fort further along the river Yamuna. This was the place where the emperor Shah Jehan was imprisoned and where he spent his last day gazing at the tomb of his beloved wife .
As per a tale, he had planned to build an analogous tomb for himself in black marble across the river – but it was not to be.Today the Taj Mahal in Agra India is considered not only one of the best examples of Mughal architecture in India, but it is also considered as a world’s wonder and same time it is also enlisted in world heritage site. The history of the Taj Mahal is one of the great love stories of the world.
it really depends if she knows the history or she just likes the monument..
if history then maybe gifted as a symbol of love but if just as a monument then just cause she finds it pretty……….
