Technically Shah Jahan The Great Mughal Emporer Made It Built For His Wife At Agra And Shah Jahan Cut The Hands Of The Architect After It Was Built So That The Architect Can’t Build Another Taj Mahal In This World! Taj Mahal was entrusted to a board of architects under imperial supervision including Abd ul-Karim Ma’mur Khan, Makramat Khan, and Ustad Ahmad Lahauri.
Its a giant tomb that Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan had built for his wife in 1631
