Question by a.s: For all travelers > Best country to live in for those who aren’t utterly concerned with wealth?
For all the travelers on here, in which countries would you say you’ve found the people and way of life to be the most friendly and accommodating, and why? I’ve always been partial to Spanish culture myself, and so understandably have a desire to explore Spain (Never been there yet unfortunately) to see if it’s what I hope it is. I’ve also found America to be a very nice country full of very accommodating and diverse people when you get to know them, with Canada being broadly fairly similar. Mexico and Guatemala both I’ve also found to be very pleasant places once you become accustomed to the crime and other problems. I prefer western nations for the generally very high standard of living, but (for example) I’m quite comfortable with the average middle class standard of living in Mexico so long as I’d be working reasonable hours (I’m well educated so that would be a given almost anywhere). I’ve found Kerala to be very much to my liking in many regards, but unfortunately I suspect it’s too poor for me to be able to carve out a comfortable life if I were to live there. So with all this in mind, what opinions would you all have as to what countries may be to my liking, and what countries have you personally found to be to your liking when visiting and why?

costa rica… I am mexican and I went there once and it was very beautiful and the people was nice!!… it’s probably one of the best latin american countries, so I recommend it…. by the way, the life there is also cheap, not poor but cheap

You should go to Cambodia.
Amazing place with beautiful ruins and temples. Research Angkor Wat and the town of Siem Reap and you’ll see what I mean.
Prices are low for shopping though hotels are of the “you get what you pay for” variety. The average folks there have a very low standard of living and there is a lot of poverty but they are warm-hearted.
Great, often overlooked, vacation place.
Try China.
