Why do I miss India?
Question by Manuel: Why do I miss India?
I am a citizen of Canada but I was born in India – an NRI in other words. My recent trip to India was a blast. I went to Rajasthan, Agra, Lucknow, Punjab, and Delhi, but that’s not the point.
Yesterday when the plane took off from India, I wept. Wept too much. I’ve never lived in India. Only paid two visits – one when i was 10 years old, now when I’m 20. But I couldn’t control myself yesterday. I kept crying.
Now that I’m in Canada, I don’t feel like I’m wanted. This doesn’t feel like home. I just wanna go back to India.
Why am I feeling this way?
I’ve lived in Dubai for 7 years but i didn’t feel this way when I left the place.
Hey Bacu, I’ve never lived in Dubai.

great. I feel proud to be INDIAN.
it happens when u compare two nations. Basically where you born ur identitity comes from and you love everything u did and enjoyed there..eventhough u were not born from there but if your parents decend from somewhere u would definitely like your history. That’s a human nature..Just spend some time touring ur native place and meet as much as many and speak to them, contibute something for ur nation..and you must b remebered once and for all! cheers
Because you are among people who look like you and share your culture. You may have also realized that in countries like the U.S. and probably CAnada there is a prejudice against people who are darker skinned. But before you move there, keep in mind tha you were on vacation. You would need to live and work there before knowing whether or not you would want tolive there permanently.
Heard the line…Home is where heart is. Why r u out to prove this line wrong? If u know that u want to be in India, just take the first flight back. Trust me, the is no other place like Inida. Even a stranger like me will help u out without thinking twice. Hope to hear from you when u r in India. sachin181273@yahoo.com

Coz you were on vacation in India honey and Canada is real life. Trust me….there are a lot of people in India who are dying to be in your shoes. Holidaying in India is one thing and actually living there another….
You Love India…
Everyone Loves Beautiful things…. India is Beautiful Country of the World & you Love this Beauty same like me………
Hi Manpreet,
Accept it in your heart who you are, dont fight the love that’s emerging in you. Though i was born in india, i lived in australia & US for a long time now. But the enotion and the rush of love you feel while being on vacation is diffrent when u endure the power cut, office politics, family gossips. But remember, these things are common in countris like US & Canada too. Maybe not power cuts, becuase they happen for 2-4 minutes max. But what India offers is the feeling of oneness, no matter where u r, u’ll never feel out of place, u’ll always find a friend to talk to, the normal rickshawwallah, panwalla, driver, a rich guy travelling next to u, we all relate to something at a core level.
I see power cuts as a boon in disguise, no tv, no distractions, pure family time, quite time, u can talk, have meaniful funny talks. Office politics are HORRIBLE in countires like US, i dont know abt Canada. But everyone is trying to get to the other person, talking ill, if u hear a immigrant talk in his language or listen to his accent, people r so judgemental. C’mon….
So, at every level, all the countries are the same, people believe in families, moral values, trust, and love. These dont change no matter which country u r in.
Accept it, that u love India for what it gave you. Chalk out real plans of how would it be like, who’d you have for ur support system, where would u live, work, etc. The more u delay these, the lesser u feel compromised and just spend more time watching indian tv at home, listen to hindi songs while driving, and always wonder.
Somebody here said, everyone is dying to bein ur shoes, i dont agree, Read the latest time magazine, u dont need an article to prove india is growing with growth rate higher than US. Any person, who sees the life here would never want to be in “your shoes”, nothing can compensate for the loneliness and yearning u feel.
The was love you felt when u were crying, dear manpreet.
because u dont want to let go of ur culture and u feel like uve never lived like a true indian in india. u miss it and dont want to live ur life without being in india…i felt like that when i came back from india and i got over it a few weeks…it came back a couple of times but ull get over it…dont worry.
one country with different name…(INDIA, Hindustan, Bharat and so on…..)

This is a natural feeling. Sub conciously you relate and belong to INDIA and your many loved ones are from here. May be mom or day or both….and you may feel comfortable and warm here.
Nothing to get bothered…work hard in your life..and do visit when possible.Make friends…and keep in touch with this great country which has stamina to handle raiders since centuries…..and still we are living..surviving and GOD KNOWS HOW…growing in economy !!
