Question by Doc: How much is too much?
Some friends and I are traveling to New Delhi India in Nov. We have a local there helping us figure out expences… He is telling us it will cost 00 US per person (10 days) That includes Hotel, Food, Transportation, and sight seeing at the Taj Mahal. (10 days)

Per day per person- What we figured (being generous)
0 US- Food
0 US- Hotel
0 US- Transportation
US- Taj Trip
+12 tax
72- Total trip per person for 10 days

Were is the other 0 he is asking for per person???

Well, for starters, better to have a little too much money than not enough – especially where you are traveling to India.

For another thing, why not do some research yourself online? Look for hotel websites for the hotel you want to stay at. Get pricing from them, as well as the airline website – that will give you the basic cost for transportation and hotel. Food is tough to guage, as is the Taj Mahal trip unless this local there is correct in the prices he tells you.

Good luck. I hope you enjoy the trip.

Whenever traveling out of the country, you need to also consider the conversion rate between currencies… you might come out to the good or bad.

If you’re talking about a strict budget, you’ll need to do some of the research yourself and/or ask your local friend for a breakdown of expenses. Otherwise, having a buffer zone of available cash is not a bad thing.

Maybe he’s factoring in souvenirs or just giving you a little breathing room. You never know when you’re gonna need a little extra cash.
